An attractive copper engraved view of Goa on the west coast of India. Goa is one of India’s smallest states, but it richest. Originally taken by the Portuguese in 1510 it remarkably stayed in their possession until 1961 right through the period of British domination of the subcontinent. A number of boats are shown and interesting a number of elephants are working the port. It appears in volume eight of the Abbe Prevost’s ‘Histoire Generale des Voyages’.
