Sidney Hall (fl.1818-1860) began his career as an engraver for the Arrowsmith family. His first county maps were those published by Samuel Leigh in 1820. This is a rare version of Sidney Hall’s quarto engraved county maps first issued as the British Atlas in 1831 and here enlarged lithographically to folio size. Provenance: private English collection. Beresiner pp. 110-3; Chubb 545.
