One half of a map depicting the region of Siena in Italy. This map was first published in the Latin edition of Abraham Ortelius’ ‘Theatrum Orbis Terrarum’ in 1573, the first modern atlas of the world. It is derived from the map of Cesare Orlandi in 1573, which in itself if probably drawn from Claudio Duchetti’s undated earlier map.
