This superb sea chart of the Yucatan peninsula in present day Mexico is orientated to the south. It was first published in the magnificent ‘Lichtende Zee-Fakkel’ in 1684, this one being from the fourth volume. The firm of Van Keulen was founded around 1680 with the publication of the ‘Zee Atlas’. The multi volume ‘Zee Fakkel’ followed soon after. This map extends to the island of Cuba in the east. This is is an example of the second state with the addition of a further sand bar to Yucatan. With an ornate title cartouche framed by two winged figures. Koeman (1967-70) IV no. 128 st. 2, Keu 109A.
