This map appears to be a later issue of Cassini’s great 180-sheet late eighteenth-century survey of France. The evidence for this is the wove paper which was not in use in Europe until about 1800. It is numbered 125 upper left. The map shows the islands of Sark, Herms and Alderney in the Channel Islands in some detail. The nearby shore of Normandy is shown.
CASSINI DE THURY, Cesar-Francois
(Channel Islands)
Paris, c.1810
570 x 900 mm., on fine thick wove paper with slight water stain in the upper corners.
