A fine detailed map of southern Vietnam centred on the Mekong River and its Delta. It was published by the Depot des Carte et Plans de la Marine following the French conquest of Tonkin in 1858. Over the ensuing decade the French extended their control eventually formed a colony known as Cochinchina. Saigon (present day Ho Chi Minh) is featured as is a portion of Cambodia including Phenom Penh (Phnom Penh).
