An attractive map of the British Isles which was first published in the third volume of the quarto French edition of Baron von Pufendorf’s ‘Introduction a l’histoire General et Politique de l’Univers’, 1753-69. Pufendorf was a ‘prolific Swedish political and historical writer of the mid-late seventeenth century’ (Shirley). Jean-Baptiste Nolin II (1686-1762) carried on the family business of his father of the same name. Provenance: Doreen Green 2003; private English collection.
