This attractive title page is from the English edition of Henry Hondius’ atlas published in 1636. The atlas is a descendant of Gerard Mercator’s atlas first published in 1585. The pasted-on labels enabled fewer copperplates to be required so that the different titles could be simply placed on. Hondius’ partner is also named in the imprint using Jan Jansson’s anglicised name ‘John Johnson’. Koeman (1967-70) ME 41A.
