An ornate title page from Pierre Mortier’s (1661-1711) ‘Atlas Nouveau’ first issued about 1696. The columnar title includes an image of Hercules holding the world aloft. He is flanked by Louis XIV and the Dauphin. Statues of Mars and Pallas are either side of the title itself with images of the battles of Cassel and Senef in the base. Koeman (1967-70) Mor 1.
