This map is one of a number first published in ‘The Political Magazine’ between 1782 and 1790, all carry the name of the engraver, John Lodge. As the title suggests the Magazine was more political in nature. The text accompanying the plate refers to the importance of this port in times of naval war. Jolly I POL 59.
