From 1766 to 1772 the London Magazine published a series of maps of the Wards of London. This followed on from the series of English County maps. This map of Aldgate Ward includes two vignettes, a coat of arms and an attractive title cartouche. Top centre is the old city wall gate of Aldgate after which the Ward is named.
