This sea chart focuses on two portions of the east coast of England. The main part of the map illustrates the coastline around Yarmouth including Lowestoft, Suffolk and Hemsby in Norfolk. The chart above is of the River Thames and from the mouth to London with south at the top. It was first published in the magnificent ‘Lichtende Zee-Fakkel’ in around 1734. Unlike many charts this includes inland detail such as the towns. The firm of Van Keulen was founded around 1680 with the publication of the ‘Zee Atlas’. The multi volume ‘Zee Fakkel’ followed soon after. Not in Burgess (Thames); Koeman (1967-70) IV no. 279 Keu 45.
