From ‘Cary’s Universal Atlas’. John Cary (c.1754-1835) was one of the most successful map and globe publishers of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. He was the first map maker to use Greenwich as the meridian. The clarity of his style sets him apart from the competition. This map of Persia is quite detailed showing numerous roads. Ala’i, Cyrus. (2003). ‘Mapping Persia: A brief introduction’, in IMCoS Journal 94 pp. 5-22; Phillips 714.
