Gerard Mercator’s regional map of the south east of England taking in the east coast from Suffolk around to Hampshire in the south. Inland it extends to Warwickshire. The map was first published by Gerard Mercator in the ‘Atlantis Pars Altera’ in 1595. In 1606 Jodocus Hondius took over the production and gradually expanded the work. This map is in the preferred first state with the more ornate title cartouche, stippled sea and Mercator’s imprint lower right. With Latin text to the verso.
