This is the first state of three now known, of this map of the British Isles. It is dictated by the engraving of the unicorn in the cartouche. An ornate one that is dominated by the Hanoverian coat of arms in the title cartouche. It was published in Johann Georg Schreiber (1676-1750) in the ‘Atlas Selectus’, the dating of which is uncertain but is believed by Wawrik to be c.1745. Provenance: Doreen Green 1994; private English collection. Phillips (1909-) 609; Shirley (1988) Schreiber 1; Shirley (2004) T.Schr 1a, no. 10; Wawrik (1982).
