Patrick Gordon’s ‘Geography Anatomiz’d’ was first published in 1693. It proved a popular text being issued through 1754 in London utilising three different series of engraved maps. This first series included maps were engraved by Robert Morden (fl. 1669-d. 1703) and were first included in his own ‘Geography Rectified’. Morden was a co-publisher of this work for the first three editions of 1693, 1699 and 1702. This is the fourth edition published in 1704 in which his name is removed from the title, the first issued following his death. The maps are apparently unaltered apart from the world map which now bears ‘Page 86 & 87’ in the small lower cartouche. This edition not in the British Library. From 1722 a new series of maps by John Senex were included and in 1754 the maps were by Emanuel Bowen.
