Jesse Olney (1798-1872) from Connecticut was a teacher in geography and an author of various textbooks. This is the first edition of the first atlas published. The map of the United States displays the Wisconsin Territory and a large Missouri Territory extending from the Missouri River to the Oregon Territory. To the south is the Indian Territory. The boundary in the Northwest extends northwards into British America stating ‘Boundary determined in 1824’. Provenance: private English collection acquired 2007. Phillips 308.
