A superb panorama of Paris by one of the more collected publishers, Frederick de Wit (1630-1706), with his imprint lower right. The folio town views by de Wit are rare and much sought after. This one bears the arms of France upper left and Paris upper right. A key to 22 landmarks identified frames four columns of text describing the city in Dutch, French, English and German. The foreground bears a hunting scene. The view was published in de Wit’s ‘Theatrum Praecipuarum Totius Europae Urbium’. Boutier (2002) no. 136; Koeman (1967-70) Wit 28, no. 96 p. 210.
