A fine engraved plan of the intended canal from Coventry to Oxford by Robert Whitworth. Little is known about him other than he appears to have made a speciality out of publishing canal maps. It is engraved by James Cole who originally appears to have worked in London although here he signs ‘Oxon’. An example can be traced in the Kings Topographical Collection at the British Library (Maps K.Top.6.37).
