An excellent coloured lithograph of the Battle of Cape St. Vincent on 14 February 1797. It was one of the earliest battles in the Anglo-Spanish War of 1796-1808. The British fleet was commanded by Admiral Sir John Jervis and defeated the larger Spanish one under Admiral Don José de Córdoba y Ramos near Cape St. Vincent, Portugal. The scene is drawn and lithographed by Augusto de Belvedere and J. J. Martinez. It was published by José Ferrer de Coutoand and José March y Labores in ‘Historia de la Marina Real Española.
