This plate describes the elaborate clothing of the Emperor of China and his entourage. The elaborate interior furnishings of the palace are also beautifully displayed. These are described below. It was published in the fifth volume of the encyclopaedic atlas by Henri Abraham Chatelain (1684-1743) entitled ‘Atlas Historique ou Nouvelle Introduction a l’Histoire, a la Chronologie & a la Geographie’.
