Melchoir Tavernier was a member of a prestigious family firm of cartographers started by his father Gabriel and uncle Mechoir I. In 1644 he would sell much of the business to Pierre Mariette. This map features the Iberian peninsula in antiquity and was engraved to accomany Charles Vialart’s ‘Geographia Sacra’ published in 1641.
