This fine detailed lithographic map depicts the route to Kathmandu, the capital of present day Nepal and in the heart of the Himalayas. It was published in Gotha by J. Perthes. Petermann arrived at Gotha in 1854 to join the published company of Perthes. He founded and produced the famous journal named after him. This is an early production.
