Ex’ Supplement to the Antiquities of England & Wales’. ex ‘Antiquities of England and Wales’. First published in the extremely rare ‘Anglia Contracta’, c.1694, this series of plates by John Seller had a long and varied life. At the same time as illustrating the 1701 edition of Camden’s ‘Britannia’ they were also included in some editions of the ‘History of England’. Some years later they were utilised again in editions of Francis Grose’s ‘Antiquities of England and Wales’. Maps in these issues are most readily recognised by the fact that they are printed on a larger sheet of paper with descriptive text below. Grose erased Seller’s name from the maps. Hodson 274
